With social networks is also possible to find old friends and talk to them again,or just talk with people who look less. You can meet new people, friends of friends ...
But the social network can be dangerous because you show personal information that other people can use and also there are people who pretends to be a person who is not, and fool you, so it's important not to accept people that you don’t know.
For this, social network pages aren’t bad or good pages, you just have to use them with caution and not give many information abouts you.
